If you are scared like me.. about a hickey.. then try this

spoon in the freezer -- put a little lotion on the spoon to make it slide easier -- and rub the smooth side over the hickey

it makes the blood spread out... and it lightens it quite a bit...

remember -- rub TOWARDS the heart :)

I hate to disappoint you, but that will not work, and can, in fact make the bruise more visible. A hickey is caused by bruising, which is broken blood vessels. Putting cold on the bruise will reduce swelling (but there really shouldn't be any...at least I hope it wasn't put on you that violently), but will only constrict the vessles, preventing the blood from flowing away and when the blood becomes unoxygenated, the discoloration begins to set in. Warm compresses will work better, but I have to ask, why would you allow someone to put a hickey on you if you don't want it seen? A hickey is a love mark of sorts...shouldn't you wear it with pride? No? Then why allow it? The reason there is pain when a hickey is being applied is because blood vessels are bursting. It's not a healthy practice, actually.

A hickey is actually broken blood vessels beneath the skin. It's sort of like a bruise,.
Just like any other bruise you get on your body, it will fade when your body heals. There's no set rate. Some people heal quickly, some people heal slowly. It all depends on your own body.

It won't just vanish with warm water or cold water or lukewarm water. You can get make-up concealer and try that, to cover it while it fades away naturally. Wear turtlenecks or scarves. If you tend to be a really slow healer, take vitamins and eat healthy food so your body has half a chance of healing up well.
Stand in dark corners :)
