I can think of many, from simplest pleasures like a tryst in a hayloft to more elegant delights like a night flight to a hotel with the finest fare and best view of the Mediterranean sunset and sunrise.. or a drive in movie in a '55 Chevy.. or a real tear jerker movie .. or dinner and dancing...

But, as a chef, i know for the best romantic date, it will be dinner for two at home...a candle lit dinner at home... with my baby, my one true love.

No restaurant, conceivably not even my very own, can ever approach the intimacy and the setting of our candlelit dinners at home.

Setting the mood with flowers, candles, the scents of the fine delights I prepare for us, the anticipation, the music, perhaps the sound of rain through the patio doors, the intimacy, the privacy, free and far from unwanted intrusions and distractions, no background noises, no others' conversations, just the sounds of the cork slowly releasing from the bottleneck, the soft gurgle as I decant the fine wine, with all the time to let it breathe, maybe she'll help as I prepare, maybe she'll spin me around the kitchen, waltz me into the dining room, tango me to the fireplace, and together we'll strike the match and carelessly toss it onto the wood, and dance our way back to the table, or to the patio, breathe in the rain, the sweet lovers' rain that plays lovely rain-song only for us, maybe I'll tease her with a strawberry, with a slight coating of the best Belgian chocolate, deep, dark brown, like her eyes, my love, she shares her strawberry with me, my heart swells, I am with my love and we are in one of our perfect moments, perfectly touching, delighting each other, sating our love, ready not for a meal, but to become the meal. And then we sit together, and raise the glass to our lips, and are filled with delight. No, for my love, there's not any place in the world I'd rather be than lost in her, and so dinner at home will always be my answer, for it is she that feeds my soul, and no restaurant or chef or waiter will ever be able to express to her, for us, what I feel, and no place will ever match the romance of our dinner at home.

That being said, I'll add this -- that romance will find you wherever you go.. if love is in the cards for you my friend, it will find wherever you go, be it a burger joint, a malt shop, or a tent in the burning desert.

If you could do the next 12 things on the list, I would consider that romantic!~Alison~
12) Someone who holds your hand whenever possible.
11) Puts his arms around your waist and whispers in your ear.
10) Kisses you every chance he gets.
9) Holds you close when your cold.
8) When you are alone-holds you close and KISSES you.
7) Kisses you on the tip of your nose (it will give you the hint that he wants to kiss you.)
6) While in the movies, puts his arm around you and then you'll automatically put your head on his shoulder then he'll lean in and tilt your chin and kiss you lightly.
5) When you complain that your neck hurts he'll massage it for you.
4) When people diss you he stands up for you.
3) Looks deep into your eyes and TELLS you he loves you or that you are adorable.
2) Lays down under the stars with you and puts your head on his chest so you can listen to the steady beat of his heart and link your fingers together while he whispers to you as you rest your eyes and listen to his voice.
