Just got my 7month old Rotti a Kong ball. I thought it was as easy as stuffing the ball with some treats and he'll go crazy over it like other dogs. However, he's not really into it. Can you folks give me some advise on this please? Thank you.

Get a different dog. He might have mental probems.

He will learn a little at a time. Begin with kibbles and only a few treats. Make sure you stuff the kong loosely so that it makes noise. Show him how the kong empties kibbles when you push it to roll. It is a delight to watch a pup follow the trail of kibble.

If your dog so much as nudges the kong, abundantly share your joy over his accomplishment. Continue playing with him. You roll the kong. He eats the kibble/treats. He rolls the kong, you congratulate him heartily. He'll catch on. At some point let him play by himself. Otherwise, he may wait for you to roll the kong for him. Dogs are smart! Increase difficulty after he consistently recognizes the game.

I bought a Kong for my rott and she refused to gnaw on it. It turned out that the funky rubber smell was the big turn-off. Try soaking it in some beef broth for a day or so and then washing the toy really well with soap and water before giving it to him. Load it up with treats that are crumbly so that he gets enough nibbles to keep his interest and keep him playing with it. He might get discouraged and give up if he can't seem to get the treats out fast enough.

Maybe the treats aren't yummy enough or perhaps you packed it too tight. When I teach puppies - I use a really good soft treats and packe them loosely. Show your pup how the treats are in there and how he can make some fall out. Later when he is good at it- you can fill it firmer and he'll work on it for a while like a treat.

The best stimulating toy is you, the owner. Training the dog, playing with the dog and exercising the dog are the best ways to stimulate his mind and his body. Get involved in some training classes, agility, rally, obedience, etc. with your dog.

My dogs won't play with them either. They will chew on them but not try to get out the cookies that came with them. Never considered the peanut butter but it is worth a try.

Try putting squeeze cheese or p-nut butter w/ broken puppy biscuits in it and freeze it.Then give it to your puppy, thiswill taste great!!!! It will also keep your puppy busy for a while trying to lick it out!!
