I ordered a few things from Amazon.com but they sent me an email that said they couldn't process my credit card. (It's a visa check card). I assumed I had just typed my card number in wrong. But it has happened 3 times (each time I retried it with no problems) on Amazon. It also happened once at Target yesterday. I deposited my paycheck in my account, used my card at Best Buy with no problem, and then had to run my card twice at target to get it to work. I have used the same card at Target before then as well.

I always run it as credit, if that makes any difference.

In the U.S. your debit card has to have a Visa and/or MasterCard logo. Also In the U.S. and some countries. Some merchants require you to have Address Verification. This is to helps with fraud. So you need to check your address that you use with Amazon and the address that the bank put on your debit card. To see if it is the same. Amazon may require C V V. That is the 3 digits on the back of your card. Amazon may do what appears to be a double charge. It actually an authorization and the actual purchase done at the same time. So it may look like $18, when it actual $9.00 the extra $9.00 will be remove in about a week. This could cause your card to get denied if you only had $11 in the account. Your paycheck may have not cleared or you may have gone over your banks daily authorization limit for debit cards.
