It will depend on the type of visa that she has. Is it a guest visa? Fiance visa? What you can do is to call both the INS and the Canadian Embassy and ask them.

I work for Air Canada and i was trained for Visa requirements.
If your girlfriend is from East of Europe (ex comunist countries such as,Russia,Romania,Albania,Ucraina....) she cannot go to Canada only carrying us visa.
If she s from European countries and some of nations of south America she can visit Canada and even stay for 6 months.
If she s from Japan also she can visit it.
It depens where she s from....
Anyway Us visa does not work for other countries different than USA.
Every single country requires a specific Visa.
Canada is not part of us and they ve a strict security line and the custom after sep 11th is also very strict.
If u r us citizen and u travel to Canada u need ur passport or birth certificate (mandatory) as a proof of ur citizenship otherwise they can deny ur entry in Canada and send u back in us the same day u arrive and the high cost of the same day ticket to go back will be on ur charge.

FIRST...In order to get back into the USA from Canada you may need to prove citizenship. You would need a Original Birth Certificate, a drivers license and possibly a passport. If you have all of these it shouldnt be a problem. Its easy to go to Canada..Its harder to get back in the USA. Remember..you cannot use a COPY of a birth certificate..IT MUST be a GENUINE- NOTARIZED AND SIGNED COPY from your local courthouse.

Look at the rules for her country on the Candadian Government website. You might be able to apply for a visitor's visa by mail if needed. I think it costs 50 dollars.
