If nobody paid taxes then the IRS would have to kill everybody and then there would not be anybody to pay taxes so our communities would be nicer. PS I hope you do not marry David W, the logic of his answer to you means the only reason crime exists is because there are police. David may actually work for the IRS and he is trying to trick you into not paying your taxes so he can be mean to you. If you would like some candy little girl pls call me not mean old David.

Probably far more efficient, especially if everyone adopted a responsible attitude.
The problem is that most people are irresponsible, so there would still be a need to look after the poor, old, and handicapped.
However, we would immediately reduce the size of governments, which would be a remarkably good thing. We would have no finance for armies, so war would immediately cease. We would have to police ourselves, so we would all become more community friendly.
We wouldn't have to spend so much time working, so we would have more free time to help the needy.
Taxation is just another form of slavery.

Galbraith described a situation where we all would live in palaces linked to each other by dirt roads.

Most countries are poor because nobody trusts a central authority to pay tax to.

There would be no infrastructure or "common good" elements - every man for himself - no police, no fire departments, no road commission, no FEMA - very similar to colonial days. Of course, the rich would build a special freeway, and make it a toll road, but the money would go into their pocket - the Chase Bank Tollway -

You mean that people would just get together and do all of this stuff like roads, schools, and parks on there own. Shocking!!
