On an implicit level, everyone adheres to the three ultimate laws of reality|||| |||

(1) The law of *identity:* which states that a thing is what it is, with an objective nature and existence, not necessarily what we believe or wish.

(2) The law of *non-contradiction:* which states that nothing can both exist and not exist at the same time, as being and non-being are mutually exclusive for the same thing at the same time.

(3) The principle of *sufficient reason:* which states that if anything exists, happens, or is true, there must be a sufficient reason for these. Nothing can exist, happen, or be true, simply for no reason.

Philosophers have sometimes denied these principles explicitly, but they still have an *implicit* knowledge of them as they draw upon them in their day to day lives.

For example, for one who denies the principle of sufficient reason, if he saw a murder victim, his mind would immediately ask who the murderer is. He would not say that that murder victim was simply there - period. He would look for a cause.

God is *self-existent* so has the sufficient reason for His existence in Himself.

Creation is *contingent* so requires its sufficient reason in another, who is God.
