I'm not a christian, but the three you mentioned are simply defined as hypocrites. They teach things that they don't follow.
Peace.

Men that tried to serve the Lord but strayed from the path of righteousness. They followed their own sin nature and served Satan instead. Swaggart had a prostitute perform masturbation for him to watch. Jim Bakker and Ted Haggard became greedy. There is lots more but this should give you an idea.

All fallen stalwarts of the Christian TV set. Jimmy Swaggart (Texas) just had a thing for prostitutes and getting caught with them, Jim Bakker (PTL Club, Virginia) had a thing for everyone in hot tubs, and Ted Haggard has a thing for a tell all prostitue. Jim Bakker NEVER talked badly about gays....he and Tammy preached love, love, love. The Bakkers fell because Falwell wanted what they had....a big following with a lot of money, so he set their demise up. Falwell is one of the nastiest of the bunch, right up there with pitiful Pat Robertson. The rest of the bunch are poor excuses of Christians, as they are hypocrites, saying one thing and doing another until they are caught. Right around the corner, I have to deal with the TBN bunch of hypocrites, taking money from the poor to give themselves very lavish life styles, yachts, homes in Newport Beach...a travesty in God's eyes. Truly disgusting. Good luck

It was not a matter of supporting Jimmy Swaggart, it was about the status of tax exemption. With this decision, the Supreme Court made it clear that the "Free Exercise Clause accordingly does not require the State to grant appellant an exemption from its generally applicable sales and use tax." In other words, there is no constitutional protections for tax exemptions for religious organizations. If governments provide tax exemptions to other non-profit groups, they cannot deny the same exemptions to some groups based solely on the existence of religious affiliation. However, governments are not required to provide tax exemptions generally or special tax exemptions available only to religious organizations.

They are three, once prominent preachers, who publically humilitated the Lord by falling to sin. Unfortunately, those are the ones the media spreads the stories on.
When is the last time you heard a news story about a preacher who pastored a nice little church for 30 yrs, was faithful to his wife and the Lord, and was beloved by his congregation? They do exist you know!
Best Wishes,
Sue

Coming from someone who is obviously looking to degrade the faith and not look at those who ARE totally seeking God and love Christ with all their heart and soul.

For all Christians they are the victims of sin, as are we all! We shall continue to love and pray for them. You might as well include Catholic priests, popes, laymen, choir directors, and all others. We will pray even for you!
