find an excuse to talk to her about ....whatever...then during the conversation tell her that you just wanted to talk to her. it doesnt matter what your initial conversation topic is, it will move to whatever you (or her) want it to. you could say something as lame as commenting on something increadibly obvious.

Try getting to know her through casual conversation, what are her interests, find stuff you have in common, etc.. and after a while maybe you could just ask if she wants to catch up some time outside of work for a coffee or to go see a movie or something - if she's not interested, what's the worst that could happen? A little embarrassment on your part?
I'm kinda shy myself, and there was this guy at my old job I SO should have asked out, but I didn't have the courage or know how to do it in some subtle way... would've been easy really, too, as it was a supermarket checkout so you're kinda stuck with talking to your packer for an hour or so whilst operating!

Well I'm really shy. I once talked on the phone with one of my guy friends and we talked over eighty minutes talking about stupid things like kiddish TV shows. I'm sure most girls would like a funny guy so talk about Bob the Builder or Dora. It will probably work and you'll start a conversation that way and you'll have a fun time.

Before I tell you, trust me, this used to happen to me all the time, then some angel from this site told me what I'm about to tell you.
First, think of a movie you have seen or know a lot about that you know she likes or you thik she would like.
then just walk by her desk and ask her if she has heard about this movie.
When she says, "oh yeah, I love that movie", start talking about that movie and that wilol break the ice.
Then you invite her to go see it with you, but if she says that she doesn't want to see it again, either she doesn't like it and just wanted to talk to you or she has seen it a lot.
Over the next few days, keep talking to her and finally ask her out after a week or 2.
Someone on this site told this to me and now I am married with 3 kids. Good Luck. :)

Well, why dont you talk to her? If she is not very popular, that means she will maybe answer, but if she is too shy you should give her some time. Look, dont freak out this girl, just be cool, and yourself about it. Another thing is if she is too shy to answer you need to give her a little hint you like her.

That is tuff because you might make her draw back into her shell. Start out by simple little things that don't require long answers. Easy uncomplicated answers. Or ask if you could take her to lunch. It is good to be direct with people like this sometimes. Good luck.

try to figure out what type of guys she likes, or maybe work the courage up to ask her out for a friendly dinner or movie. i have no expertise in this area, so someone else might offer something better.

find out what she like shurly she has friends that work there. then just walk up to her and start talking about that. you will find out if she likes you by the tone of her voice. usually girls are shy around guys they like.
