I live a few miles from the sea and I drive over a saltwater river to get home. Sometimes you smell the "sulfuric" ocean smell. Sometimes you don't. Why is that? Low tide? Trapped water? Decaying organisms? Bacteria? Thank you for taking the time to answer this for me.

The salt and it's effect on the vegetation and sea life, that which is living and that which is decomposing, the breezes and winds carry the scent. Wonderfull .

The salty sand and the fishes contributes to the smell. And all Oceans have a smell.
