Number Two. There will always be religious people. Because of propaganda, media, and other sources, most of them will not realize that the central point to all religions is to treat everyone as you would want to be treated. So different religons will continue fighting until one is almost completely dominant over all the others. Even then, there'll be uprisings.
An alternative would be for all countries to become secular and tolerate all relgions, then no religion will dominate all others.
Not only that, but as more and more people get educated, more and more people will become atheist or agnostic.

The world as a whole will never fully agree on one thing. Any one thing. We can even get every one to agree it is wrong to molest little kids. A total world religion or nonreligion is impossible. Unless God or some god makes it happen. On a side note, Less them 1% of the world are atheist. Much of the 1% are uneducated. for example prisoners, hippies, drug addicts, and generaly angry people. While all of those can be educated I think you undestand what I am saying. The beilef that most smart people/scientist are athest is bull. Science does not work without God, for lack of a first cause. And evolution does nothing to disprove God.

I actually hope that the insights many religions provide about the nature and limits of human experience can be absorbed into empirical science (look at the field of consciousness studies) and the metaphysical stances of both religion and atheism disappear.

I think it will remain as it is until the end of Earth. There will always be atheist, always be people who discover God and always be very religious people. Of course there will be war because we as humans need to butcher each other over something! If not for the sake of religion than for any other reason.

LOL! According to my crystal ball: a man superior in intelligence will appear on earth. He will be powerful. And, he and his equally powerful friends will cause the destruction of all religions.
