i have a credit card i owe from may 31 2002 i lived in west virgina at the time now i live in indiana ..

According to this website, it looks like 4 years from the date of your last charge if you were in West Virginia at the time:

Keep in mind that in many states, if the creditor calls and you admit owing it then you restart the time running for the statute of limitations.

both states have a SOL of 4 years.. SOL clock starts from the time you went late just to keep that in mind. One other this is if you move to a state with a longer SOL the creditor gets to choose the state. So stay in Indy for 2 more years or so. BECAREFULL of junk debt collector. the are CONs and IF you agree to the debt or anything it reages. If they contact you again send them a cesist and Descist letter, explaining the SOL. And if they contact you, sue them! 1k easy money. but they will most likly sell it. that will not count. Dont feel bad your credit has a ding that is a bad enough punishment. It falls off after 7 years

Here's a list of the statutes by state. The statue depends on whether it was a verbal or written contract.
