I have the version 7 beta installed, and it wont let me uninstall it or install a different version of internet explorer, i dont want to use internet explorer 7 either, plus my computer is an emachines computer so it wont install it in the first place, and when i try to uninstall it it says "Windows Internet Explorer Beta 2 cannot be uninstalled from this user account. Please log on to the same user account from which it was installed and try again." and the user who installed it has been deleted by the system, so i cannot go back on that account and do it that way, do you know how to fix this inconveinience? and yes I do use firefox 2.0 and prefer it, but i still want a fairly good version of IE also.

I cannot use system restore either, since i neglected IE 7 beta, i never noticed it was faulty, so I didn't see the problem, and it is too far back to system restore

Try safe mode as administrator to uninstall. If it still wont let you due to user restrictions, you will have to post this to a Microsoft forum or newsgroup.

Another thing to try: Obviously, backup your hives in case they are blown away by this. I assume you know what I mean. log on as administrator (assuming this is not the deleted account). even though you have deleted the account, recreate it exactly the same name. Now, it will be created with a system account name of 'user(1)' or something like that. open registry and find/replace the old name 'user' with 'userold' FIRST, AND 'user(1)' with 'user' SECOND.

You also may want to look in HKEY_USERS to look for your S-1-5 user code and play with that.

Now, anyone else out here lurking, dont try this as this can royally mess up your system! I dont even know if I would try this...lol

PS, if you dont know what I just described, you have no business even trying.

Install IE7 over the Beta version. In case you are having problems, I will recommend you to go through this site. I think you are looking for this.

You could try re-installing windows.... Make sure you back up all of your important files first though.. Thats probably the only other way you could do it..
