Great question. Humans are not the only living things exhibiting this electrical function, but according to most religions only humans are endowed with "spirit" or "soul", so I would have to GUESS that this electricity may be more of the "effect" rather than the "cause" of thought. I also understand that a "coma" is when the brain is under a massive electrical "storm", not the lack of activity, so the question would be if a comatose person is thinking? And that this energy dissipates slowly after death. It would be great if "thoughts" could be electrically encoded and shared or saved for posterity, but as with things like time travel, I believe there are some limits set by the "unseen hand" we humans aren't meant to breach. And there are those (I'm not convinced) that claim a deceased person can leave traces of extreme emotions or "vibes" that pyschics detect. So far Harry Houdini has not reported. But I think your thesis is correct, thought is not simply electricity or chemistry, and that is where the confounded heart enters the picture. Claims that personality changes result from major organ transplants with the recipient taking on characteristics of the anonymous donor, need more scientific scrutiny. And then there is the difference between male and female brain electric activity patterns, is their having different body organs the reason for this difference in electricity patterns in their brain caused by "thinking" from other locations? So no, I don't think electrical activity is "proof" of soul or spirit, I think that lies elsewhere, I think said electricity is the result of thinking. It is said that humans are the only species able to "reason" and that animals rely on a programmed "instinct", but I think we excelled other creatures on earth for something yet undefined by science, something really "spiritual."

Have you ever heard of insulation? Why is it you can hold a 120 volt power cord in your hand and not be shocked? It's because the cord has non-conducting rubber insulation around it. If you will take a little time to read about the brain and our nervous system, you will find that our nerves have myelin sheaths around them that are electrical insulators.
The body is partially conductive to electricity, but our nervous system is effectively very well insulated from the external surface of our body.

I would describe thoughts in the mind as spiritually influenced inspirations, truths, memories, visions or ideas that are "manifested" as physical chemical and electrical impulses in the brain. The electrical impulses are not the "idea" in itself.
Everything in the universe is manifested as either waves or particles, energy or matter, which are all interconnected as one across time and space. You can talk about that time/space continuum as either spiritual or physical -- but either way, it is all interconnected.
I use the word "collective" to describe the spiritual level of universal truth.

Klaryuk is right. The next question should be, "How does a conscious thought or perception cause an electrochemical nerve impulse to begin". Example: when a man perceives a naked woman and thinks sex his penis engorges in an erection. This is a conscious thought or perception causing a physical action. Very mysterious.

I think you misunderstand exactly how nerve impulses work. They are electro-CHEMICAL signals... not like the kind of electricity you get from the plug in your wall. I don't think you've giving enough thought to the way your brain produces thoughts....

Thought waves are tranmitted by nerochemical pathways. they can't be grounded out by you getting your hair wet. thoughts are not controlled by electricity, if they were and you held a magnet on your head you wouldn't be able to think of anything.
Are they spiritual? Not in the sence you may be referring to, no.

The electrical impulses that thoughts create are unbelievably small.
If this helps answer your question at all.

If you have to ask, I don't have the time to tell you. Try reading books. You don't seem to have any idea about this, so I have no place to start. I can not give you a 4 year anatomy/ biology/ chemistry/ physics degree in a few minutes.

AC voltage or DC? DC needs a ground, AC moves between higher and lower potentials (analog).
