In Texas, a class A misdemeanor is punishable up to 365 days in County Jail. Most offenders receive 2 days for 1 served,unless they are a jail trustee, then they may receive 3 for 1.

I got a misdemeanor back in 04 for vandalism. I did not serve any jail time. I think it depends on the severity of the crime. I just ended up doing comminity service( 20 hours) and paid a hefty fine.

The maximum time for a misdemeanor is 11 months and 29 days. any more and you're talking felony.
