My English bulldog is two and a half. She still bites when she plays. She loves hands and feet. Those little puppy needle teeth were so sharp that we were black and blue from the biting until she lost those needle teeth. She also chewed furniture and loves sheet rock (we repaired the hole and keep her away from building material). The biting will gradually get better but despite the biting, they are the absolute best dogs. I adore them and I was never a dog person. I could never be without one now. I love the snoring and sneezing and the noises they make. We shake a coffee can with pennies in it when she bites during play and she is afraid of it. We started this when she was a puppy.
Good luck with your puppy!

yes it is.All puppies bite alot to begin with.my sister had an english bulldog and it did so also.I really never knew a puppy that didnt bite alot when your playing with it ever.So yes its very normal for them to bite.If it gets out of hand give the puppy a lil tap on the nose or tell him/her "No!" firmly but not enough to make them scared of you.Good luck with your puppy I love Bulldog's =P

Yes, in fact it's important that he does!!! He needs to learn bite inhibition. There's a really great dog trainer named Ian Dunbar that has written some wonderful material for new dog owners. You can find his books on Dogwise.com, I highly recommend them to my students. Good luck with your new pup, bet he's a cutie.
