Peanut butter is made of peanuts and nothing else.. Oh, you can add salt, a bit of oils, and preservatives, but those extra ingredients aren't reallly necessary.

Proof: Okay crush and grind some peanuts in a bowl with the back of a spoon. Add a few more peanuts. If its looking dry then add a bit of oil.. Does it need salt... nah.. This is good stuff.

THERE IS NOOOOOOOOO BUTTER in PEANUT BUTTER. Please do not listen to the first answerer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Peanut Butter is simply ground peanuts. Some times companies add stabilizers so the oil doesn't seperate from the solids. Other than that it is strictly ground peanuts.

Ground peanuts, and may include: sugar, salt, oil, and preservatives. It's called "butter" because it is a spread, much like dairy butter.
