Book of Genesis 9:20-27
20 And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.
22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.
24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
26 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
27 God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

What exactly is it that ham did to Noah? And why would he? The answers might help understand some of the present day problems.

That argument was used by disreputable people like slave traders and the KKK to justify what was done to black people. Not only is it morally wrong, it's Biblically wrong. The curse Noah put was on Ham's son Canaan. Those people settled in the land of Canaan and it was fulfilled for them when the Israelites took that land over.

Judges 1:28 When Israel grew strong, they put the Canaanites to forced labor, but did not drive them out completely.

I have met women from Africa who explained it this way -- that the history of voodoo and related practices, used by tribes to wish and impose ill on each other, are the root of generational curses, wars, poverty and disease plaguing the African continent.

Since any curse can be broken, you can participate without fear in helping to break this cycle of spiritual and economic poverty. Anything you can do to support ministries and charities working to forgive the economic and spiritual debt of all suffering nations will help. God bless you.

James 5:16 Confess your faults to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed. For more on "Healing" including exorcism and deliverance from generational and demonic curses please read "Healing" by Francis MacNutt, or contact http://www.christianhealingmin.org
Note: His book does explain that you cannot mix dark forces with light forces in healing prayer, if that is your concern. He cites a case where the partial healing work of a witch doctor had to be renounced before the Christian prayer could fully heal the person.

Curses are real. No where in the bible dose it say curses can jump from one to another. You are all ready curesed from original sin. Also if anyone has said "damn you" or "your are bad at (fill in the blank) they have cursed you. and i mean curse in the literal since. Any curse can be broke trough prayer. THey should not be feared. Jesus gave us power over them. I belive it impossible to go through life with out haveing some curse put on us. So yes they are cursed. Everyone is. I have bibical soures put I don't feel like putting them

I know there are lots of black folk who like ham, but I don't think that was due to a curse.

If you want to avoid making friends over food, that's up to you.

Lets see, you come in to talk to your dad, he's naked and drunk, so you get your brothers to come cover him and get cursed for it. THAT is harsh.
