I often watch about plastic surgery on tv such as extreme make over or swan, after the doctors took away the excess skin or body fat from someone's body, where did they throw it away?

After body tissue and bodily flids are collected, they are put into a red biohazard container, that is collected by a certified medical waste management co. These container and bags are then placed in an incenarator that is on a high setting and will continue to burn for long hours, this is done to make sure that anything that can pose a biological threat (protozoa, bacteria, virus, prion) is destroyed or at least weaken.

Tissue isnt sent off to a lab unless the surgeons suspects an abnormality is the tissue while dissecting/observation. and tissue is only donated when a consent has been signed by the donor

It is often put in bio-hazardous waste, but sometimes skin tissue is sent to tissue banks, and used for burn victims.

It is disposed of as hazardous medical waste, usually in the incinerator.
