Good question. One I have put to myself a number of times.

I am not concerned about impure comments. These become more common as society losses the last traces of class or human dignity.

We are however here by choice. While we have that freedom; I for one am becoming more selective in the questions I attempt to answer.

I think there is a decided danger if we assume we are doing a Christian service ( in other words doing God a service ) when we do not have a clear calling to be here. We are, either way, being held accountable for what we say.

My response is that it is o.k.: If we remain sober, kind and considerate with our answers and make a greater effort to be supportive of those who espouse the Lord Jesus Christ.

My other concern is that I am not totally comfortable functioning in anonymity under an avatar. The gospel is the truth and I feel that if I stay on here I will put my name with my testimony. Can we, do you think, obtain credit for confessing the Lord Jesus Christ under a pseudonym? I doubt it.

We can't help being in the world, but you're right, we are not supposed to be of the world. I like coming here. What an opportunity to share God's word. Or a thought we have learned that could lead someone to Christ.

Think of Y A as a Mission Field for chicken Christians like me..lol

Oh, and I may have reported two people during the almost year I've been coming here, and I reported Tara.

You are in the world..hence you are here...What it means is not to be consumed by things in this world..lovers of this world. Whereever you go you will always have someone who makes impure comments. Now should you be on a site where there is constant comments for enjoyments..etc... maybe I am wrong..but if you check out my comments you will see I use this time to witness to others about my beliefs also learn from others. Don't know anything about Tara chick...?

I have no idea of "that Tara chick" but your question is totally ludicrous. I've been in this category often, & have never seen a comment that intimated believers "..are not supposed to be of this world." You should have quoted her. If she said that, well, DRAT her! Impurity abounds--that's why the human condition is so fascinating. Atheiists have been bashed to smashed potatoes--live with it, but at least confirm what you stated.

*** I actually took the time to find "Tara" who has already been reported twice. GOOD! Have you seen her profile? What a FILTHY MOUTH. I don't know what she said about believers, but I'm not going to waste further time. She ought to be ABORTED from Yahoo, not just reported.

There is a lot to be learned here. Honestly, there are base minded people everywhere. Find the categories that attract the genuinely helpful people and avoid the categories where the crude people hang. Just like TV: if you don't like what you are seeing, then turn it off.

You know that is a good question. I think maybe we should stay away from all entertainment we would not want to do with Jesus as our companion. If we would feel embarrassed or ashamed if Jesus was sitting here with us then maybe we should not do it. After saying that I will see you later I am getting off this site.

Good point. Christians should stay away from Yahoo Answers. And Safeway! Plenty of unwholesomeness there! And movies! Good god, they have unholy stuff there.

Also 7-11s. And tvs!

We come from God, are of God, and return to God.

Therefore, we are not of this world, but of God.

God placed me here, on this earth, and Yahoo answers, for a specific reason. I was granted the gift of "self-will." I can believe whatever I want to believe, I can live my life however I wish to live it, I can be or not be anything I want.

When I return to God's realm, I hope it can be said I strived to always aline my will up along His will to the best of my ability.

To be in the will of god is the safest place to be.

The Bible says to not make anything your God except God. He never said you can't have entertainment..he says don't let it rule your life.(miss church for it, do it instead of Bible reading and prayer). He doesn't expect us to sit home in the living room and just stare at 4 walls.

you can be in the world and not of it...let your light shine in the midst of darkness, b/c light always prevails over the dark...so if you think these people on yahoo answers need some guidance, then you're in the right place and you just need to make sure that their (my/our) darkness doesn't suck you in. Besides it's always fun to act like you know something and to hear what's going on with complete strangers.
