Well, Syria is in the Middle East, a typical Arabic country. I wonder what make you think Syria could be Spanish country?! If we must be precise only Spain is the country and the other so called Latin American countries ( like Argentine,Chile,Bolivia,Colombia, etc) are located in different continent , but the official language there is also Spanish.

The modern country of Syria is an artifical creation by the European powers following World War I. Its current language is almost exclusively Arabic. Spanish was never spoken there, except perhaps by trading communities. The area has always been of strategic commercial and military importance for at least 4500 years, since trade routes from the east converged there at the Mediterranean coast. The empires of Babylon, Assyria, Persia, Hellenistic Greece, Rome, and the Ottoman Turks have at various times controlled Syria since ca. 2500 BCE. Dominant languages have been Akkadian, Aramaic, Greek, Latin, and Arabic.
