Can someone plese give me a link to a site that provides a free Registry scan/fix also it has to be compatable with Windows 98.

Depending on how bad your registry is damaged, scanreg may take care of your problem. Here are two Microsoft articles that will explain how to use the command.

Go to http://www.rosecitysoftware.com Download their Registry First Aid. The program is not free, but you can use it during the evaluation period to scan and clean up your registry.
