Klonopin is a mild anticonvulsant and part of the Benzodiazepine family of medication, normally prescribed as the first line anti-anxiety meds. Other popular benzodiazepines include Xanax, Valium and Ativan. Their work very well for anxiety and panic attacks as they kick in very quickly and provide little to no side effects. They ARE however, VERY ADDICTIVE and come with very harsh withdrawal symptoms. Klonopin is the least addictive of the bunch, due to it's longer half life (the amount of time the drug stays in your system). Xanax on the other hand, has an incredibly short half life and is the most of addictive of the group. All benzodiazepines are interchangable and are basically the same in the long run. If you have a history of substance abuse and are experiencing mild to severe anxiety, you're Dr. will NOT prescribe you a benzodiazepine.
Seroquel is an atypical antipsychotic, which are used primarily to treat schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders. Seroquel is the mildest the atypicals and can be used to replace benzodiazepines to treat panic and anxiety, without the nasty addictive effects. It provides a similar calming effect to benzodiazepines (not as fun) and in higher doses, can put you to sleep for a really long time.
I've taken both and Klonopin is certainly more fun, however, Seroquel is much safer and non-addictive.

AFTER playing human guinea pig for excess daytime sleepiness or narcolepsy without cataplexy or burnout or add- sleepy type, whatever you want to call it. since xyrem was suggested to improve night sleep to help reduce daytime sleepiness. Xyrem was politically incorrect as the date rape drug in the 70's and 80's and was available in healthfood stores. the combination at nighttime of 1mg klonopin and 100 mg Seroquel( $2/night vs 1000/night for xyrem), the best result I got reducing from 100 mg/ day of the evil Ritalin to the 70mg/day of the evil Adderall. bty the politically correct Provigil gave me high blood pressure about 5 yrs ago after less than a month on it and switching back to Ritalin brought by blood pressure from 140/100 to 120/70. Don't believe everything you read about how bad the stimulants are. I was told by my Dr that the amount of Seroquel at night was a tiny dose and I show no signs of psychosis, only burnout

Seroquel is an antipsycotic drug used to treat people with mental illnesses such as Bi-polar. It also helps you sleep, and is very very expensive because there are no generics out for it yet. Klonopin is the brand name of lorazepam and is very affordable. It helps ith anxiety and is a controlled drug. I use it for anxiety and sleep, it is a life saver!!

I was on seroquel about one year ago. At one time there was a class action suit regarding seroquel. Klonopin, to me is worthless especially the dose they gave me. It is in the "Benso" family, but in my opinion if you have accute anxiety, it is worthless...

Seroquel is an antipsychotic commonly prescribed for the treatment of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Common side effects are similar to most antipsychotics--neurologic (tics etc), weight gain, dizziness, sleepiness. I know people who are prescribed it for sleep aid in combination with other psychotropic drug (as guided by their doc's experience).
Klonapin is used to treat epilepsy and anxiety disorder. I've also seen docs prescribe it to help calm people who are agitated/restless.

don't know about klonopin, Serequil i was on..and believe me when i tell you, it's a hard drug, they prescribe it to out of control people, and "schitzophrenics" it's not safe to take, it's really knew, i started hearing about it 6 years ago, something that hard has to have really bad side effects, not natural at all, it made me scared to go outside, scared to sleep, and really scared to take it, after i quit taking it..i STOPPED hearing voices...don't listen to them when they tell you you need this stuff, they need you to think you need it, they cash in, so much that if there is a lawsuit, they won't give a damn, they've made millions upon millions on this drug.
