Without a long drawn out answer...........you have low fuel pressure........I would suggest having the fuel system checked by a reputable mechanic.

Almost need a computer to diagnose these things.

I'm thinking you've got a weak pump, or perhaps a weak fuel pump relay switch, or maybe a clogged filter.

I'd try the filter first. Then I'd bum a fuel pressure gauge to look at the fuel pressure to make sure that it comes up right away when you turn the key. IF it does, then you've got another problem, but if it doesn't I'd check the fuel pump.

Have you had the Fuel Pump Checked?? I had a 98 Chevy Blazer that had similar problems... ( cept just after awhile it stoped starting in general ) I got it looked at and the Fuel Pump had died... depending on whether or not its a Metal or Plastic Tank it could range you anwhere (for the part) from 100$ Used to 150$ New

Definitely the ignition module, I'm not exactly sure where it's located on your vehicle, but GM puts theirs inside the distributor. I own a 1986 GMC truck which gave me similar problems and it turned out to be the ignition module. Another thing that can be bad is the PCM. I had to replace that once before when it wouldn't start. Without the proper diagnostic equipment, you'll just be peeing into the wind so to speak. Why guess and replace things that may be functional. Take the vehicle to a reputable mechanic.

When I had that problem years ago my brother would spray something into the carburetor. Also do you pump the pedal a couple times before you try to get enough fuel into the carb. I'm just a gal trying to help so if I'm way off, don't yell guys.

i own a repair shop, and i think it might have a bad pressure regulator on it, this governs the amount of gas it can get,and the pressure also, but this is what will cause hard starts on one like that ,you can try tapping on it,and see if it is sticking but ,i usually replace them ,and one other thing also, the pump relay may be going bad on it,this will make the pump run a little sower on it ,and make it take longer to start,,good luck,i hope this help,s.

When you go to start the car dont pump the throttle just push it to the floor once let it snap back into position then turn ignition key without touching throttle until engine has started.
Doing this sets up the automatic choke.
