start out with those "girl pushups" where you put your knees on the ground, but your feet in the air (balance on your knees)

so that your arms can get used to them and strengthen up.

Do push ups and weight lifting every second day (as you need 1 day to tear muscle and one day to heal).

Try 10 "girl" pushups every second day for a a month, then start increasing it by intervals of 10 for a few more months.
then you can gradually move on to regular pushups... start with 10 and increase each week.
--------------------
you can't just strengthen your arms with the weights in order to get better at push ups because weights are strengthening just your arms but pushups strengthen your arms as well as under your arms- armpits which is why its hard to do pushups if you dont practice... and is why your armpits hurt the day after.

I tried to do the girl push-ups and then work into the regular ones. I think it uses different muscles. I could not do 1 push up until I was 20. It became my goal to be able to do push ups. When I first started, I would just hold my body in the pushup position until I fell. When I got so that I wasn't as weak, I tried to do 1, and fell. The next day I tried again, and got down maybe an inch further, then I fell. I kept doing it until I could do a push-up. It took about a month and a half, but I did it! I then tried for two... and that took about 3 weeks. Now, I can do about 10, which isn't much, but I am very proud of my accomplishment, and i keep working to improve!

PS-I could always do like an infinite amount of girl push-ups.

Start by doing push ups from your knees, like women do push ups. This is not meant to insult you but rather to help you gain some strength by doing push ups that way and when you have built up your strength then you can start doing push ups the regular way. I would also recommend that you join a gym and start doing some flat bench presses. Start light, so that you can easily do 10 or 12 reps for 5 sets. Once you are able to do 15 reps for several sets at a certain weight then increase the weight by only 5lbs. or 10 lbs. then start over by doing 5 sets at that weight. Then when you are able to do 15 reps at that weight you increase the weight again and so on. I have been a bodybuilder and personal trainer for 25 years. Good luck!!!!!

you need to work on arm muscles. Do other exercise to build your arm muscles like weights and other stuff then you will have no problems doing them.
Good Luck
