It isn't heartburn, and your doctor is an idiot. See another doctor and ask to have your thyroid checked. You didn't say if you have high blood pressure or night sweats, but if you do, you could have an adrenal tumor (can cause tingling in hands and feet, along with symptoms that mimic heart attack). Adrenal tumors also act up when you are under stress. Ask your doctor to do a lab test called a "plasma free metanephrine" test. It's a diagnostic for adrenal tumors.
But no matter what - GET ANOTHER DOCTOR!!

if the pressure is on the left side of your chest not the middle and your left hand tingles it might be acid reflex (gerd) where your stomach acid is coming up past your esophagus. This is totally different then heart burn and can start destroying the esophagus if not treated. Usually a doctor will prescribe Nexium which will reverse the problem and start to repair the damage to the esophagus. Your stomach acid is hydrochloric acid which can burn thru metal. It wont burn thru your stomach because of the mucus lining in it. It does start hurting more when you are stressed and at night when you are laying down flat, try using a extra pillow or two so that you are on about a 45 degree angle.I have had gerd for years. I am very surprised that your doctor didn't tell you that it might be gerd!!! You might want to seek a second opinion and get rid of your doctor!!

The tingling in the fingers tells me it may be vasoconsctriction (this is a technical term meaning your blood vessels constrict), this can cause symptoms such as numbness in the extremeties (fingers, toes) but i've always heard about it occuring along with high blood pressure. what is your average blood pressure/pulse rate?
what medicines/herbs/drugs are you taking? I can see this happening with panic attacks, but not just regular stress, and especially not in the middle of the night when the adrenal gland should be more or less deactivated so to speak.
is it pain or just pressure in the chest, if its pain too it can be angina. I dont suppose there is anything terribly wrong, i assume the doctor performed an EKG?
Are you getting enough B vitamins? If your not sure, take a B-50 complex vitamin for a week or two and see if it helps.
anyway thats all i can offer.

You need to go to a new doctor. Because I have never heard that heartburn causes tingling in fingers. How was your blood pressure. You need to learn to be less stress when you go to bed. Also try to elevate your head. Put pillows under the mattress and see if that helps. Go to the doctor for a second opinion. Good Luck

It doesn't sound like any heartburn I've ever heard of. Get a second opinion. It sounds more like the stress is irritating a heart murmur. Is it a sharp, stabbing pain? Have a new doctor check you for a heart murmur and leaky valve. Stress can irritate both of these things and make you feel short of breath, and hurt in the left side of your chest. Get to a second doctor ASAP! It's nothing to mess around with.
Hope this helps and good luck!

It might be severe heartburn.
I had the same problem for a long time, I would get small anxiety attacks that would lead to panic attacks.
This would lead to super heartburn because I was worried all the time. Watch what your eating to see if you can control the heartburn. And try to calm down. See if this helps.

Your doctor is a quack. Heartburn does NOT give you tingling in your fingers nor does it leave you gasping for breath. Find another doctor pronto and drop this one like a hot potato.

It doesn't sound like heartburn but stress can cause these kinds of symptoms, it's like a mini panic attack. Did the doctor check you over thoroughly? I think she should have done to be on the safe side.

Go directly to the hospital. You are dying. Get another doctor if you live through this bad diagnosis.
