So I have a three and half month baby, and I would like to get a tattoe. Not something horrible. Something little and nice, but I'm breastfeeding, so I want to know if it is all right to get tattoe when one is breastfeeding

Theoretically it shouldn't matter whether you are breastfeeding or not, because the needles and ink should all be sterile. HOWEVER, I would probably wait until your baby is weaned, because IF there was a problem with the sterilization process, not only you but your baby could be affected, and that is a risk too high, in my mind, to take on behalf of your baby.

There is no evidence that getting a tattoo will affect breastfeeding. There should be no harm to mom or baby from the dyes injected. If you get a tattoo, the biggest concern for anyone (not just nursing moms) is infection (hepatitis or HIV)-- so make sure the place you go has good references and is clean.

What is a tattoe? Sounds like something Dan Quayle might get.

If i were you i would wait alittle while before I'd get a tatoo, maybe after the babys done breast feeding, or a little longer, just to be on the safe side.

I got a small one while pregnant (really early with my first.. I didn't realize the risks)

You have a risk of contracting Hep B from tattoo needles. If at all possible- wait.

It is better to wait, because there are risks even though thing are sterilized, etc..you just never know.
