for some reason, one of my nerves in my mouth is giving me lightning bolts of pain

Many reasons. Have you ever had or been diagnosed with TMJ or TMD?

There is also something called Trigeminal neuralgia. Try not to look up too many things without talking to your doctor first though, self diagnosing can lead to so much stress. I really hope your pain goes away - I know what it's like to have pain like that and it hurts. I hope you get it figured out.

You need to get to your doctor. It could be something more serious than just a brushing issue. You could have an infection or the nerve might be going haywire on you. Check with your doctor asap.
