I will get them clothes but that is boring. I want to get them things they will like and enjoy. Stocking stuffer ideas too please!

The boy might like the hottest sports video game and the girl at 11 may be into stylish clothes. How about an Ipod Nano. Get them a pre paid cell phone if they don't have one already and their parents agree. you can even get her cute jewelry like matching bracelets with earrings set. Does the girl like Hello Kitty etc.. get her a real cool piece of hello kitty lamp clock etc.. Is the bboy a skater can he use a gift certificate to toys r us.

They might enjoy remote control cars. Not the cheap ones from Target, spend a little more for good ones from a hobby shop. These days boys and girls like them, so maybe get them both one so they can race. Some areas have race tracks too. Maybe get them a membership with the cars.

Laser tag and paintball are popular now. Again, buy them a membership with a company. It's suprisingly affordable.

Lessons are a good option, cool, and not over after they unwrap it. Musical instruments (drums, the Trombone, something loud that moms don't want in the house), Horseback riding (not as expensive as it seems, and available in most large cities if you look), Art (maybe even hire an art student to teach them welding, air brush art, or something unusual). You know the kid's interests, go to the next level, do more than they would ordinarily get to do.

There are companies that will do science experiments with kids. Look in the phone book, and your city's Parks and Recreation department, they do some amazing stuff.

Parks and Recreation departments usually put out a booklet of all the classes. There might be something cool.

Is a coupon book an option? You know, you used to do them when you were little for your folks. Like, you would do dishes or clean up after the dog? Well do that for the kids. A "get out of Jail free card". Get permission from the mom first, and promise that it will be handled in everyone's best interest, but that would be awesome if some minor infraction was forgiven by the coupon. Or trips to places. Zoos, amusement parks, concerts, other tourist destinations in your city. Get a tourist guide book for more ideas.

Good luck

Right I have a really young sister who is 10 and a brother who is 11. My brother assures me the coolest thing would be an x-box 360 or some new tony hawk skateboard. My sister is a little bit more dainty and is not into the whole sports thing , and I'm guessing would probably prefer an mp3 player or a new dvd player, But for stocking stuffers the coolest thing before I moved away was that my mom would bake tons of chocolate cookies and buy alot of candy and than put it in our stockings. Hey, Best of luck with step children, my friends assures me they can actually be the greatest of kids.

Kids this age want things that make them feel grown up, even if they won't admit it! Electronics are always a great idea, and jewelry. I'd avoid makeup or any kind of weapons (pocketknives, BB guns), because even though they would probably LOVE these gifts, the parent they live with may not appreciate them. The best thing you can do is just ASK them. Or if your relationship is okay with the other parent, ask them. They can tell you what they're planning on getting them, and save you the trouble of returning duplicate gifts.
Kids at this age are smart. Chances are, they know what they're getting for Christmas from the other parent. The kids themselves are your best resource for this information!

Get them both several books. Reading is a skill that has to be encouraged.

Sure, they will like a Playstation 3 but will that do anything to improve their minds? No!!

For a stocking stuffer, give them an orange.

I know a popular thing for boys and girls of that age now a days is video games. So if they have a bideo game system, you could probably get them some games for it. But otherwise, getting them a giftcard to either Target or Walmart might be the best bet since those stores carry a variety of things for them to choose from, they will surely find something they like there.

10 years old was about 13 years ago for me...so I am out of the loop. I don't know if kids would like this...but as an adult I love getting gift cards to my favorite stores.
For girls...get gift certificates from a cute trendy preteen clothing store like limitedtoo or claires.
Boys...hum...I really don't know about that. If they like video games, sports, or science things then that might narrow it down for you.
Toy stores are always great and the people there can be helpful when you ask them about age ranges. Just dont forget to think about their personalities first.

Just remember, interesting might mean expensive. There's all kinds of electronics out there. Video games, ipods, laptops etc.... You know what? Depending where they live, try getting them a pass to something. Like if there's a six flags by them or something like that. Movie tickets are good too. Good luck.

Sounds like I-Pod Nanos all around to me. When my kids were that age it was all about audio equipment and home-video games. Remember though they're 10, so don't mortgage the farm on anything as it'll be broken or lost in a month's time anyway.
