I can see that many aetheists celebrate birthdays. But, did you know that birthdays are associated w/ superstition? In that case, you do really believe in some supernatural beings controlling your lives?

Why wouldn't atheists celebrate their birthday? Keep wondering.

Yes, and I believe your logic is a bit backwards. I celebrate my birthday because it is a non-fabricated milestone by which I look back on my life and by which I consider my future. Celebrating birthdays is not a superstitious thing because, naturally, there's no guarantee you will live to tomorrow. Survival should be celebrated. I would celebrate more if I lived in a country where the average lifespan was 30 and I was 31. There are many non-superstitious reasons to celebrate one's birthday, just as there is non-superstitious reason to celebrate any accomplishment.

What the heck has celebrating one's birthday got to do with atheism. Everybody gets born, regardless of what they eventually grow up believing in, or not believing in. Atheists, and Religionists alike have a whole variety of ideas about birthdays, and whether to celebrate theirs or not. I know plenty of atheists, and "believers" and some of both either have big birthday bashes, or prefer to just let the day "slither by" LOL.

Yes. And Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Easter, and the Fourth of July.

Why? Because we can, and its fun to get the family together and exchange gifts anyway. I would have just as much reason to go Pagan and celebrate Solstices and Equinoxes (from which many of the normal holidays are derived), but I like our system.

Just think of the sense of accomplishment when you're jogging around a track and you finish a lap. We're just celebrating another lap around the sun. It's a pretty long track, you know.

Are theists trying to claim that our own BIRTHDAYS are all about the Baby Jesus now as well? It wasn't enough to snatch Saturnalia from the pagans and take all the credit for that? Any territory of anyone else's they AREN'T interested in?

Sure.. I get a little cake, some trinkets as gifts and the fun from having friends help celebrate.

Has nothing to do with religion, so I don't know why you'd ask.

I didn't this year, because I was driving all day to see a family member. But yeah, usually. Why in the world wouldn't we?
