It could be a book about the life of an autistic person, of therapies, of causes, or anything. I just want to read something informative and intelligent, not slanderous or with an agenda.

This may or may not be what you're looking for, but I have enjoyed the following books:

"Your Life is Not a Label: A Guide to Living Fully with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome" by Jerry Newport

"You're Going to Love This Kid!: Teaching Students With Autism in the Inclusive Classroom" By Paula Kluth

"Not Even Wrong: Adventures in Autism" By Paul Collins (a very interesting and historical look at autism)

Any book by Temple Grandin (a college professor with autism)

Also, I can't remember the author at the moment, but an interesting novel featuring a character with autism is "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time"

Hope this helps!

I read the book" children with starving brains" written by a pediatrician who's grandaughter was diagnosed with autism, she writes a little about everything from resources to probable causes. This was the first book I read that gave me insight to my son's condition.

Another book thats great is " the out-of-sync child had fun" taken by mothers who give their own valuable advice to interact with a child in various dissabilities.
