I have a 11 week old german shepherd puppy, he kept me awake 3 nights in a row. I got so pissed, that i dragged him from his collar to the bathroom, so i don't have to hear him.
this is my first time treating him bad, I would appologize to him if I can.
I might have lost his trust, now how can I gain it back?

Thanks

You may never be able to totally regian his trust, depending on how sensitive he is..the breed that I raise, doesn't forget..
but, he will recover from the trauma in a week or so..
teach him new things..this is the very best way of bonding..

Here's what I try to warn people about: german shepherds are puppies mentally until they are 2 years old!! This means that unless you learn to discipline them without causing psychological damage, you won't have much luck. Try talking to him to soothe him, just softly, like youre his daddy. Or if he's beside your bed, lay your hand on his little back so the warmth keeps him company. Remember when he's 12 months old and his body is full grown, he might be 90 pounds and four feet long, not an enemy you want to have. You want to apologize, then do it, talk to him, he doesn't speak english, but he can tell you feel bad about it. Put him in your lap, spend time with him, put your hand on his back. I raised 2 shepherds at the same time, they like attention, but they will die for you, if need be.

I agree that you don't want this little guy to grow up as your enemy,
I would not baby him too much, he will mistake this for approval of his scared behavior, remember he is just a puppy, he does need your love but he also needs your guidance, as for him keeping you awake by 11 weeks he should have outgrown the "missing mom" thing, is there a reason he whines at night? does he have to go potty? do you work long or odd hours and he just wants his fair share of attention? does he have a comfy bed next to yours, German Shepherds are "people dogs" mine seems to think he has to be with me at all times, he will not lay down until he sees me get into the bed, try putting one of your shirts or something in bed with him, make sure he has been out before bed time, maybe a nice long walk to tire him out would help. you will regain his trust but you will have to work for it~ that's just the German Shepherd way :)

Since the dog is so young, it's difficult to judge if he distrusts you or not. I don't think he's traumatized too much because he's still a puppy. Just spend some time playing with him and such. Next time, make sure you discipline him accordingly. If he continues to bother you at night, keep him in the laundry room with his own bed to sleep on. Good luck!

The best way to regain trust would be time and bonding. Try to spend as much time as you can with him. Even if it just means having him sit at your feet while you watch T.V. or study, etc . . . That is the most important way. Dogs need to feel loved and wanted, Especially at this age going through so many adjustments

If you have your dog in a crate that dog wants to be out by you at night.

If he is fully house trained leave him out for the night just make sure you take him outside

He will trust you if you understand why he is up at night , and love and spend time with him by your side. Dog are not the alpha you are

wow. how sad. first you must realize that dogs are forgiving animals. You will have to let him know that you care about him. when you come home from being away, be excited to see him. My dog loves to have her tummy rubbed. You might want to keep telling him what a good boy he is. Give him lots and lots of praise. I get on the floor and play with my dog. Take your dog for walks. Give him lots and lots of praise. Your dog will come out of it. Don't have anymore of those outbursts. Remember he is a puppy and has been pulled away from his mamma. the best thing you can do is give your dog lots and lots of praise. speak to him in a calm voice. If you are upset, go hit your fist against a wall. Don't take out your anger on your dog.

You need to be kind and patient with him and you will earn his trust back. Be confident and matter of fact about it. If you spend too much time coddling him, he will think he is being rewarded for acting (scared, shy or whatever he is doing) and you don't want him to keep that up.
Play some fun games with him - ball, squeaky toy, etc.

i don't think that would make him lose trust he might be scared of you now just give him lots of love and attention even if he doesn't want it, he will see that your nice to him and he will forgive you and i feed my dogs pork all the time and it is fine they actually eat it raw they even sell pork in pet stores so if you want to do the bacon thing then do it.
cheese will be good to use too just not alot in one sitting 2-3 small peices .
Good luck
