There are many excellent suggestions so far (others not so wonderful), and I would like to add one that was always a winner with my group.

Sardines. It is like hide & seek, but all the lights are off, and only one person goes and hides. Then, whenever someone finds them, they join them in hiding. As others find them, they join in, and depending on the size of the hiding spot, it becomes increasingly difficult for them all to hide. Naturally, there is one person left doing all the finding.

As for spicing it up and adding fun, add teambuilding exercises like capture the flag to tire them out and create social bonds and ensure they have fun. Try some Christian-themed crafts, like rosaries or even generic ones like drawing. Finger paint causes chaos. Pens and markers are usually safer. Ask them to draw heaven or something.

You won't like this, but work on cultural diversity. Give them some Buddhism or something to read, and discuss if the 8-fold path and the 4 noble truths conflict with the Bible. Also, choosing excrepts from the Koran is a good idea, if you stay away from the really crazy stuff. Gaia hypothesis is also kind of cool, and you could relate it to the world around them if your church is away from the city. You will find that the ideas really aren't that different, and that your youth group is composed of more well-rounded and open-minded students afterwards. Its about exposing them to different modes of thinking so they don't insult or abuse those groups when they meet them in real life settings. One needs only to look on Yahoo Answers to see why this is so important, even for a Christian youth group.

it really depends on the age group of the kids.

Games and movies are a good ideal.

For games get a few board games and card games (as well as a normal deck of cards). You know things like uno, monopoly, etc. maybe some video games if you have them.

for movies, I guess it would be smarter to go with Christian movies but if you can find normal Hollywood films that are OK for you group then get some of those to watch as well.

other good things to have:

music and food

i am going to assume this isn't satirical trolling. no matter if that is, fake i'm ignoring you--because i'm, extremely. yet to the authentic boy* who desires help, if any: you do not say what church you belong to, yet when it replaced into one w/ a "liberal" position on homosexuality and/or pre-/non-marital sex, you likely does not be asking this question. so that you've committed a sin. likely more effective than one--fornication (2 counts?) and perhaps blasphemy (doing it on the church grounds, IF that truth befell to you on the time and also you probably did it besides). that doesn't mean in any Christian custom that you're inevitably going to Hell. God forgives those who repent and attempt to sin no extra. the precise mechanism relies upon on your sect. Now, a question for you: cover & seek for? On a teenager sleepover? Whose meshugginah idea replaced into THAT? a persons'' who'd before done what you and Sam did and needed to provide the recent crop of church individuals an similar danger? Or someone w/ really no clue about youngster sexuality--or who thinks of y'all as little ones, not youthful people? and how briskly did you end, that no human being suspected? Say, you recognize a thanks to impressive catch up on your sins, partly? Write for your pastor anonymously--get your self a loose digital mail account and by no potential use it again, or do it on paper--and tell him (or her?) what befell, so as that that particular party of sin is by no potential provided again. --------------------- * the heart beat get good of entry to SAYS "Sarah lee" is Male.

Play board games, play cards like Uno, have snacks, watch movies, listen to christian movies, etc. There are several things that can be done to make a sleepover/lock-in real fun.

I can't imagine this being any fun at all. Large screen TV with movies, hot chocolate and popcorn/treats.I do remember my church taking us on a hay ride in the fall. It would have been nice if the "brats" weren't there with their pitch forks though. I guess this would mean a more appropriate phrase like;"Bored Again Christians" ?

My daughter loved these sleep overs when she was young; she said they would have a lot of fun. But if you already know it will be boring, don't go.

How about playing some games, like Twenty Questions, Scherades (or however you spell that), or pictionary. Or how about a nice rated G movie?
