A minimum of 30 minutes. The longer, the more you benefit. The reason behind this is due the the process of carb burning and fat burning. The human body is designed to burn carbs first as energy for about 20 minutes on the average. After the carbs have depleted, it then reaches into the fat cells and uses the fat for energy, which is obviously burned off. Therefore, you only burn about 10 minutes worth of fat if your cardio is 30 minutes long.

Your target heart rate should be 60 to 80% of your PEAK heart rate. To determine your PEAK heart rate, take 220 and subtract your age. This is your peak heart rate. Then multiply that by .06 and .08 to get your %. Staying within your target zone allows you to do cardio longer. Obviously, if you exercises at your PEAK level, you wouldn't last very long. Stats have proven you achieve the best results staying within your target zone.

where is "up where is should be" if thats your absolute max, then like 30 seconds, but if your like 30 beats below ur max, stay there for 20 minutes to get a solid, fatburning, heart strenghthing workout

You should do at least 20 minutes to show results and make sure that you warm up to it properly and cool down properly as well. You can edge that time up as your body adjusts to it and to acheive your goals. Good luck

usually about 20 minutes then start your cool down. you can add to that time as you get more fit, and slowly work up to it if you just started a exercise program
