She acts like "loving everybody" is a ridiculous false teaching. And she acts like she's a super-knowledgeable and good Christian. Where is she coming from with this?

It sounds to me like she has fallen into one of the devils traps. She is too busy worrying about other peoples sins that she fails to realize that we all sin, including her. In fact, judging others and being full of pride are both sins.

Many people who call themselves Christians fail to realize loving everyone means loving them FOR their sins, not DESPITE them. The only person who lived the perfect life was Christ. God expects us to sin, and forgives us of our transgressions once we have truly repented. Why should we do any different?

Try nicely pointing out her error in being judgmental and her sin of pride. Tell her that a true Christian would forgive and attempt to help others who are in the dark and can not see the light of Jesus.

"judge not, lest ye be judeged"
Matthew 7:1
"Let ye without sin cast the first stone."
John 8:7

Love and discipline go hand in hand. She may be coming from this viewpoint.

Loving unconditionally, does not mean you partake of others' sinful activities, nor does it mean you don't mention it, or agree with it.

What your friend is doing, I don't know. But it may be that they love people enough to speak the truth.... and people don't always want to hear the truth, do they?

There is an ancient Jewish story about the day the Israelites crossed the Red Sea. When pharoah's armies were drowned in the Red Sea, the angels began to celebrate. Suddenly, they realized that the Lord was weeping. They asked him what as wrong, since Israel was saved and the Egyptian armies were no more. The Lord turned to them and said, "Don't you know that those were my children too?"

Even God has taken action against sinful man, and He loves us enough to have died on the cross for us.

Loving someone doesn't mean you love and accept everything they do.

Do you think that may be where your friend is coming from? Why don't you ask her.

God Bless,

Sue

I can understand and agree with her stance. Why?

Christ tells us to love one another. But what HE preached and what the world tells us is loving one another now are two different things. The bible tells us we must also judge and discern, to stay away from things that are not scriptural. The world today just wants us to be all warm and fuzzy and sing "kum by yah", not discern or judge according to God's word, and simply tolerate everything out of so called love.

Christ loves us...but He also chastens us. He gives us rules to live by and expects them to be followed. He loved us enough to let us know we are sinners and need salvation...He points out our sins and tells us we need to do something about it. The world around us doesn't want to hear it...they simply want to hear "I love you regardless of what you do, you can sin all you want and we'll love ya.."..and that's not what the bible says.

There is nothing wrong with knowing about your beliefs, why you believe them, where they started, the history, etc. A good solid bible preaching and teaching church makes sure the members know where they came from and where they're going. It's not smart to simply blindly follow a preacher regardless of denomination just because he stands before the crowd... If you don't know what you believe and why, you can be led into things very unscriptural...

I wouldn't down that friend....I'd listen to her and learn a bit more yourself... ;)

I'm sure she doesn't look down so badly on the preaching of loving everybody as much as you are percieving her to be. Since Christ's own commandmant states to "Love one another". Perhaps you are confusing her stance with the "Hate the actions" that humans have a tendency to dabble with ?

The Hare Rama Hare Krishna group teaches "loving everybody" as well . They wear saffron robes and dance around the streets.

There are cult group which preach love everybody and then inject themselves with drugs .

The gays say love everybody .

There is also some religious rishis in India who form their own sect and preach love everybody and then they will then ask you to donate all your monies and properties to the themselves.

So we have to view the context in which "Love everybody:" is preached.

She sounds like my husband.

He and I have quite "lively" discussions about this matter. Based on personal experience, I think you can attract more people to God if you show them love and respect.

My husband feels like this is true, but also that people need to be reminded of God's standards, and He means it.

Where your friend is coming from is with the heart of a Prophet. Those guys didn't mind coming down on people who they saw sinning. They didn't mince words either.

In that light, maybe you can accept her for what she has to be. That's how I deal with my husband.

Let her know that if she is such a good Christian...
One of the ten commandments is...
Love thy neighbor. Ur neighbor is anyone other than urself. If you don't love them, ur showing God that you can't love n e 1 else but urself. Being self-centered!

When Jesus washed His disciples feet, He was showing by example how you should love one another and treat one another. Jesus said, "When u treat one another w/ love, you are showing Love towards me. For I love everyone."

Good Luck w/ ur friend.

Your friend is crazy. We REAL Christians believe that everyone should love everybody else. Even their enemies. In fact, the bible says that we should love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. Jesus said those words himself! Peace! May God Bless You Richly.

She's suffering from the holier-than-thouness that comes with believing she is right, everyone else is wrong, and she has her golden ticket to heaven. The problem is that there is no right religion, especially if you look at it as a ticket to paradise.

Because it's easier to hate then to love. If you hate a person, you don't have to care about the. Stick with love, it's a God given commandment.
