I met a guy who gave me a CD of his music to listen to. I listened to it once and it was terrible, but now we're going out on a date. What should I do if he asks what I thought of his music? Lie?? Or tell him it wasn't my cup of tea?

Tell him that you don't enjoy that type of music...don't say genre because that would be lying (unless you really do dislike that genre).

Music is important to everyone. Truth is it takes
300-400 hours of true rehearsal to get ready to record a cd.
That is if you wrote 10 or more songs. Maybe they stretched
the creativities line, ask if he needs to learn song writing,
if he can get good comfortable equipment, a studio director,
gigs that are competitive and challenging. Writing is half
the battle and keeping the band in musical syndrome is half.
It is not your fault, making friends is important and tons of
friends including musicians can be something to share in
adult life. He doesn't drink tea, I would bring the ginger ale.

Tell him it wasn't the type of music that you listen to,
but it was good for his own standards.
Whatever floats his boat,
as long as you don't lie,
because that never ends up well.

Good luck!
