80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

There is no meaning other than the one we give ourselves. We weren't created to tear a hole in the fabric of space time so we can go through to the other side and battle aliens. We are living in our own dreams, and what we make of our lives is our own experience. You play the hand that you were dealt, and sometimes you don't get all face cards.
Is there a God? Absolutely. The truth is he never left the Earth, and neither did his angels. God created life so that he could live amongst his creations, not zoom back out into the depths of the Universe where he could be all alone again. What we will experience in the coming years is a great awakening, as we begin to fully realize what the hell has been going on in our world and why.
It's all a scripted dream, and if you look close enough you can see the actors (i.e. Bush, the men who invented the atomic bomb, the people who landed on the moon and got everyone wondering about life out there, the ones who draw comic books and keep our dreams alive).

As a muslim I believe that the meaning of life is to serve God and be a good person. God created all things, and I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't exist. Wouldn't explain how molecular stuff and all that came together from nothing to create the big bang (or whatever that caused it).
The point is, you should search for this meaning. I would strongly recommend Islam. Why don't you go to your local mosque and ask them certain questions about Islam and just ask what you want to know. I'm sure they would be MUCH better in explaining these things to you than I am.

The meaning of life , I believe, is what you get out of life. No one knows if there is a god. All religious people have beliefs and faiths. that is what their religion is based on. Does anyone have CONCRETE evidence of God? Of course not. You must believe and have faith. Don't do anything, to answer the third part of your question, if god does exist he will forgive ignorance. As for what I believe, I'll keep it to myself, too many fanatics that want to rant instead of talk.

Love is the meaning of life. Love Jesus, yourself and others. And yes I said love yourself. For when you realize you are a Child of the Most High God, you can not hate your self.
Love is all there is.

The meaning of life is to learn and grow and progress as individuals. Yes, there is a god, but I can't simply tell you that, you have to find him on your own.

WHAT went wrong? What took place that spoiled the fine start God gave our first parents in the Paradise of Eden? Why, instead of the peace and harmony of Paradise, have wickedness and suffering prevailed for thousands of years?
2 The reason is that Adam and Eve misused their free will. They lost sight of the fact that they were not created to prosper apart from God and his laws. They decided to become independent of God, thinking that this would improve their lives. So they stepped outside the God-ordained limits of free will.-Genesis, chapter 3.
You Need to Learn About God
To be God’s friend, you need to learn about him. Do your friends know your name and use it? They do. God wants you to know and use his name too. God’s name is Jehovah. (Psalm 83:18; Matthew 6:9) You must also learn what he likes and dislikes. You need to know who his friends are and who his enemies are. It takes time to get to know someone. The Bible says that it is wise to set aside time to learn about Jehovah.-Ephesians 5:15, 16.
God’s friends do what is pleasing to him. Think about your friends. If you treat them badly and do the things that they hate, will they continue to be your friends? Of course not! In the same way, if you want to be God’s friend, you need to do what is pleasing to him.-John 4:24.
Not all religions lead to friendship with God. Jesus, who is God’s closest friend, spoke of two roads. One road is wide and is filled with people. That road leads to destruction. The other road is narrow and has few people traveling on it. That road leads to everlasting life. This means that if you want to have God’s friendship, you must learn the correct way to worship him.-Matthew 7:13, 14.
