I was in the self serve grocery line today. The large order self service machines were out of order, so I had to use the smaller ones. Well, a group of about 7 people with one cart formed 'their own line' let's say, basically squeezing everyone behind them out. But since there were 2 other machines no one said anything. But once they got to the next free machine, another one freed up but they proceeded to hog that one too! I said, 'Wait a minute, why are you using two machines?' The guy retorted, 'We have two orders' I said, 'Well you have just one cart'. Meanwhile, everyone else is waiting while these guys chuckle and scan through their orders.
In grocery store etiquette, if there is such a thing, did they do something wrong or am I just sensitive?

Yes, there is a "grocery line etiquette", but the young and dumb don't seem to understand the rules!

If you're in line (no matter how many different orders in one cart) you use only that machine. If you want to move to another machine, you go to the end of the line like everyone else.

I'm surprised they weren't mugged! In my neck of the woods they would've suffered the wrath of everyone waiting!!

Oh, I hate when people do this! Sometimes I get stuck behind someone who has just a few items, but then they need them rung up as 3 or 4 separate orders, so it takes an extra long time. I think this is very selfish!

In your case, it's even worse. It sounds like the people were being selfish and taking whatever machines they could to get through faster. There is something called "mob mentality" where groups of 4 or more people tend to behave more selfishly.

Since they were all together and had one cart, I think that they should have just used one machine, especially considering that all the other ones were out of order. It's unfortunate that people have no manners today.

We must all practice patience. I checked out of Walmart today with 2 orders in one cart. I had did some Christmas shopping and those items came out of my Christmas money. I also had grocery's so I checked them out separately paying out of my grocery budget. It took a few extra minutes, but it is how I needed it done.

Time for some shopping cart rage. Take your box of Rice-a-Roni and throw it as one of those punks heads. Take your box of Reverse Oreos and then throw it into the gut of another one. Take out your earth-friendly canvass bag and put it over the head of the leader of the pack and start pounding away. Dammit if someone pulled that crap with me I think I would blow-up too.

You know what else I hate; when we're standing in the 8 or less aisle and the guy in front of me has 9 TV dinners....

people seem to no longer comprehend they have an digital leash around their throats. acquaintances and co-workers have expressed marvel to me whilst i do no longer answer my telephone or maybe pull it out and seem at it whilst it vibrates in my handbag (you will pay attention the vibration). i'm busy suited now. If it particularly is significant they are going to go away a message and that i'll get returned to them whilst our pass to/movie/time out is complete. If I had an significant telephone call are available in jointly as on the food market, i might end my employer with the caller in the previous stepping into the checkout line. specific, that's the two rude and inconvenient to be attempting to get somebody regarded at and that they have a telephone glued to their ear. i think of if I have been the checker i might ask if that they had suggestions if I look into the subsequent people in line until they end their call.

If they had 2 orders, then I think they were ok. Annoying, but ok.
