It's going to be Brayden Joel or Braden Joel. I have a friend her son is 17 months and his name is Braylon. Can I name him Brayden/Braden still?

Dad's first name is Joel. Sisters middle name is Joely so we would prefer it to be his middle name like sissie. I don't like nicknames such as Brad and my friends son's nickname is Bray. I am a Christian but it doesn't have to necessarily be a Christian name. My name is Rachel his is Joel so I would prefer something that isn't too ethnic or unique. I want him to be able to get a job. Theres a lot of little boys out there now with the name Brayden so I'm sure in 18 years it won't be considered a little boys name. He will be a man by what we teach him not his name. I'm not in to scientific studies. God is the foundation of my children not man.

I would spell it with the y. So what if your friend's son's name is Braylon, you can still name your son what you want to. And there is enough difference in the l & d sounds that it shouldn't cause a problem. That's my opinion anyway~take it or leave it~it's up to you in the end!!

I personally don't like any of the names. Remember: when he gets older people will automatically give him a nickname, it's just the way things are. If it's Braden, people will call him "Brad", if it's Brayden it'll be "Ayden" or "Bray." Why not go with a classic name and save your son the agony of dealing with some name that was given just because it was "cool" at the time? Nothing defines a man more than his name....And, you should look this information up because it has been scientifically proven that a mans name can help in defining him. Give him a strong, old fashioned name and he'll love you forever... Give him Bray or Braden and the rhymes and endless teasing that kids will do with both of those names will drive him to drug abuse. Think a little more perhaps ? Good luck, Jack

Brayden Joel
I prefer the spelling with the y
there is less chance of the name being pronounced incorrectly that way.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Of course you can call him Brayden/ Braden. I prefer Brayden because it is a cool name and there is no way of pronouncing it wrongly. because in Asia, most people will pronounce Braden as bra-den.

Why not Joel Braden? I think it has a nicer overall sound to it! And Joel means 'beloved of God' if you are Christian ;-)
