Yes it can, due to the fact that it is a natural antiseptic. Salt will dry out the wound, but be warned that rubbing salt on a wound will sting, as it dries out the affected spot. It is best to use natural, or sea salt in a distiled water solution, instead of rubbing the salt into the wound.

Not on the wound, that would hurt. Soaking a wound in a warm water with good old table salt in it will indeed help a wound. There is nothing better to draw out infection. Hosp. still use it, they call it a saline solution. They have yet to find anything as affective.

No, it does not.

Salt dries out the skin and can also help coagulate blood on a fresh wound (OUCH!), but it will not heal a wound. In fact, it will irritate it, increase the risk of infection in the long run, and make it take longer to heal.

The best way to care for a wound is to keep it clean (with soap and water), bandage it loosely so that air can get in, but dirt can't, and use an antibiotic ointment like neosporin.

Yes, it will help to prevent infection. That is an old remedy. Folks used hot water and salt to soak their wounds. But today there are so many good antibotic creams, such as, polysporin why use salt that will sting like all heck. Good luck

No. It hurts; don't do it. The only form in which salt should ever be applied to a wound is in the form of neutral saline to wash out dirt and crud.

It will help a very fresh cut to clot but it hurts something awful. Clean dressing and pressure. I carry sanitary napkins in my first aid kit for larger wounds (before anyone laughs I learnt that in the Infantry. Next best thing to a field dressing)

PUTTING SALT ON A WOUND WILL CAUSE PAIN LIKE YOU HAVE NOT FELT BEFORE. DEPENDING ON THE WOUND, USUALLY, ANTIBIOTIC OINTMENT AND COVER WITH A BAND-AID OR OTHER CLEAN DRESSING IS BEST.

IF IT IS WARM TO THE TOUCH OR SWOLLEN AND RED, SOAKING IN WARM EPSOM SALT SOLUTION MAY HELP.

no, that is kind of a saying...
If you are doing something to make yourself hurt (emotionally or physically) you are said to be rubbing salt in your wound
