He's nervous. Bet ya ten dollars he's thinking of u right now, even if he's with alison or whoever. I've been in that same situation. I was a jerk and started going out with some girl i didn't even like b/c i was insecure. He doesn't want to ruin ur friend relationship, but he likes you, or my name's not Yoda.

A woman has as much right to choose her spouse as a man has. However, the "choice" should be based on Islamic principles. It has been said that a man (and woman too) may want to marry a person for beauty, wealth, status but the best choice is based on piety. Marriage, in Islam, is a multi dimensional thing. It is emotional involvement as well as a very practical decision. So it is necessary to adopt a pragmatic approach towards marriage in addition to feelings. When one is "in love", one might not be very pragmatic. So, it is best to involve others (in your case, your parents) to have an unbiased, balanced and impartial opinion. Also, it is best to preserve your dignity before an unrelated person until you are really sure this will mature into something permanent i.e. marriage. So it is best to ask about the other person's opinion via a third party by your parents. You can talk about your feelings to your heart's content once you tie the knot inshallah. Spare them for later. Also, for common knowledge of everyone, women CAN propose to men in Islam. However, no emotional, romantic scenes are encouraged. But yes, they can send a proposal of marriage (which is also the case for men). Expression of feelings can wait till marriage.

I really doubt he has some motive behind this....he's just a jerk! I don't think he's trying to make you jealous, he just doesn't think about his actions.

What you should do is - move on and let him have his so called "perfect" relationship. In no time you'll find a great guy who would never dream of doing what he did to you :)
