Papal infallibility was declared by the First Vatican Council in 1870, under extreme pressure from Pope Pius IX. However, it is limited only to solemn proclamations of doctrines of "faith and morals". There is still debate whether he needs to be in council with other bishops when he makes such a proclamation but that hasn't really been tested.
The ONLY two "infallible" pronouncements have been the doctrines of the Immaculate Conception of Mary and the Assumption of Mary. No other papal statement has been granted this status. I think the popes have realized how dangerous this kind of proclamation can be to the church's credibility if applied to anything other than esoteric theological doctrines.
So the question is not whether I believe it. Do the popes really believe it?

It could be sparkling what Papal Infallibility is, and is no longer. it is not impeccability. The Pope continues to be a individual and a sinner like us all (and rather frankly, there have been some scandalous Popes in historic previous). even with the indisputable fact that, the purpose of infallibility, whether via a Pope or an ecumenical council, is to guard the Church from fake doctrine. that's barely via the ability of the Holy Spirit, that any such contemporary can exist. enable's additionally be sparkling, it particularly is purely been excercised a handful of cases by way of fact the beginning up of the Church.

Yes.
I believe the words of Jesus to Peter (the first Pope) and the Apostles (the first bishops), "Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven" (Matthew 18:18) and "He who hears you hears me" (Luke 10:16).
The Catholic Church teaches that the Pope is infallible at closely defined times.
The Pope is only infallible when he, in union with the body of bishops, solemnly teaches that a doctrine as true.
At all other times the Pope can be just as wrong or sinful as you and me and be in need of forgiveness.
With love in Christ.

Yes the Pope is infallible in matters of doctrine. Infallibility is not the absence of sin. Nor is it a charism that belongs only to the pope. Indeed, infallibility also belongs to the body of bishops as a whole, when, in doctrinal unity with the pope, they solemnly teach a doctrine as true. We have this from Jesus himself, who promised the apostles and their successors the bishops, the magisterium of the Church: "He who hears you hears me" (Luke 10:16), and "Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven" (Matt. 18:18).

No, I do not believe that the pope is infallible.
Does that make me a bad Catholic? Perhaps, but I can live with that.

The Lord doesn't think so as he will destroy the Catholic Church during the tribulation. See Revelations Ch.17 V1-9
