In my experience, no.
Why they do it, only they can answer that and they'll call you a liar if you attempt to ask them. Some people I know are two-faced. They have a side that they show to the public which is devoutly religious, very family oriented, life is perfect, etc. As soon as they out of sight and earshot of the people they are trying to fool and impress, they become their true selves which are the complete opposite.

Define: religion. It is a set of repetition, sometimes manic or ocd related. Define man- imperfect, easily swayed, cannot do anything right that is tainted. We blow it a lot. But that doesn't mean there is no God. Religion means nothing to me. Practice means everything. Imagine a little league practice. They, over time, learn the ropes. That is where we are at.

I like to say Christians...rather than religious. One has a religion. But to be Christ Like is a christian lifestyle. Yes some are...and then there are many who like to be seen perfect or without sin. Many want others to think they are holier than thou. But we all are sinners and no one is perfect.
I get tempted to do wrong, sometimes I do wrong. I don't love to drink, I used to years ago, and quit smoking a few years back. I have had my share of sex outside of marriage, and many more that's not important now. But have given my life to Christ and try to witness to those who wish to hear. I don't force it on anyone.

I dunno mate, some people seem to use it as an excuse for the things they shouldn't be doing. Religion is overated - if you believe in god then you do, no need to try to push others into it.
