From one sinus sufferer to another I really think you need to go back to your GP/Consultant.
I find that taking the strongest of painkillers does not ease my pain (co-codamol 30mg/paracetamol 500mg) so I feel for you when you say nothing helps. I'm waiting to have surgery at the moment - god help me if I have to survive the torture you are enduring.
Have your tried this drug or drugs like tramadol? you may find they help you, but they are prescription only so you'd still need to see the GP.
I know this may sound extreme but I suffer badly with nerve pain. For 2 years I could barely walk or move my knee after surgery and I was referred to a Pain Management clinic. I was diagnosed with severe nerve damage to my knee and prescribed stuff to make it better. 6 months later I could walk again and now 3years on I go running and do sports.
Don't wait for two years like I did or hope it will get better on it's own, go and see your GP, you'll never know what's wrong unless you ask.
Could you do me a favour and let me know how you get on with this - I'm dreading surgery so you would put my mind at ease knowing that it does get better.

I doubt you would get anything worth taking from the doctor. The good painkillers are opiate/opioids and an entry level lightweight one is hydrocodone (brand names: vicodin, vicoprofen, etc) pharmaceutically speaking, however realistically speaking you would be very lucky to be prescribed that even though its not really a 'heavy' pain killer or anything close due to the drug police "DEA" dogging doctors asses about this class of medication (they can lose their license for "zealously" prescribing them).
So you may get tylenol 3 or 4 which is codeine, or even worse, darvocet (propoxyphene) which is nearly worthless.
I would suggest ordering some papaver somniferum pods from ebay (which is legal), and smoking the sap (which is not) whose smoke constitutes of a decent painkiller (morphine) and codeine, morphines weaker son.
No otc pain killer is worth anything, and unless you want to go a completely illegal route and buy a sack of junk, my opium suggestion is probably your best. its what we're meant to use when in pain anyway, sorry if i offended you or anyone with my suggestion but i believe very heavily in herbal remedies no matter their current image in society.
weed would be another option, and its gaining a lot of popularity in the medical field and the news and such, but i would actually suggest opium instead as it targets pain directly.

The answer is see your Doctor. You should not be feeling pain after this length of time! If over the counter medication isn't working you need to have a prescription for something that will! And investigation as to why the pain is still there.

Hi you say that its been 5mths now since your surgery, things should be settled down by now,yes you may still have swelling as this sometimes takes mths and mths for all to go,but yes the aching sensation should off calmed down by now.You need to go back to your gp and get him to prescribe you will a stronger pain killer, obviously the ones you have tryed are not strong enough. But also ask the gp if its normal to still have discomfort after 5 mths too,he may refer you bck again to get it check out by the consultant.Good Luck

If you are still having pain after 5 months, you probably have a serious condition. 5 months is a long time after surgery to still be having pain. I had rhinoplasty, they broke my nose to straighten it, and I didn't have pain 5 months later - definitely call your doctor and go in at once if he wants to see you. Good luck!

Morphine is a very strong painkiller, as is heroine. I would not take either though. Even codine is an opiate and highly addictive. I find anti-inflammatories work better than painkillers to lessen sinus pain. Try prescription strength ibuprofen.
