My husband and I have not talked to his parents in over two years because of a few things they said and had done. Our sister-in-law left her phone over at our house the other day and when she came to get it, my brother-in-law asked her what kind of pictures she had on her phone, which immediately led her to believe that my husband and I looked at their phone, which we did not. I believe these pictures to be pornography of themselves - otherwise, something that he nor I would look at. We have tried talking to them and nothing works. They had 3 of our video games and returned 2, claiming that their son had gotten a hold of one (my bro in law loves the game that they claim was destroyed) and they also have a DVD box set. They are saying they do not want to talk to us, which is fine with me, because I don't take too well to being accused of something I did not do. How would you have handled this situation, and what is the best way to get what is ours? Any advice would be appreciated. TY!!

The brother in law that asked was my husband's other brother. Another thing I wanted to add is does this sound like my husband's parents are behind this?

Just get your stuff and move on. If these people are going to be judgmental and petty, they shouldn't have your respect or time. You have your own family to worry about. Sounds like the brother in law and the sister in law have issues if they have pornography of themselves on their phone. If they have children, wait till they get a hold of it - it will likely embarrass them and they'll have to take it off there. Karma is wierd sometimes, it will catch up with them. Their phone could also fall into the wrong hands, and these pictures may wind up in a place they don't want them to be.

I do not think his parents are behind this. I think that your brother-in-law mistrusts his wife. I don't know why he involved you or your husband in their martial affairs. But it is their problem, not yours. I think that your husband should ask his brother for the video game/dvd set. If he insists on it being damaged, there's not much left to do. Surely, it wouldn't be worth time in court, though, however wrong. Don't let them borrow your things again.

I think I would just replace the game myself and ignore them. All of this sounds so petty to me. There must be more to the story than a cell phone and a video game. It doesn't sound like enough to ruin my family relationship over anyway.

i'm going through a similar situation. One thing you have to realize is that you and your husband have to stick together as a team regardless of he said/she said. don't let them turn you against each other. Give them a few days to cool off and let the tension die down. Then YOU be the first to peace table. That shows maturity, if they don't agree to meet you half way, then wash your hands with it, youv'e done your part! At least you tried to mend things. so the only bad guys will be them. Kill 'em with kindness!!!

I don't think theres anymore you can do if she choose not to believe you or you got a lie detector proving your telling the truth but a video game that belongs to you ought to be returned and not kept just because she doesn't believe you.
