It's because you're acting mindless, he gives you less credit than you deserve, be objective and challenge him sometimes. That'll throw him off.

It might just be that your partner has trust issues. I'd suggest talking to him, maybe get a impartial person (a person you both know and trust) to be there when the conversation takes place and offer ther advice as well.

make your actions speak louder than your words. Just show him that he can trust you instead of telling him that he can.
