Neutering will not change your cat or cause it to freak out or act strange. Neutering will only eliminate undesirable behaviors such as territiory marking, fighting with other males, etc. It will eliminate testicualr cancer and some serious reproductive infections.

Neutering is the best thing you can do for your cat.

If done young enough it will keep him from marking(peeing) on things. Running off to look for a female. Fighting with other male cats over females. You can get him neutered at the age of 4 months. The animal shelter will do it for a smaller price than your vet. I take in cats that are strays. Some have mental or physical problems caused from being dumped or getting lost. Most I can reconcile with lots of Patience, love, and care and then they get their vacs and alterations, then a new home. I am sure that their are some that change, but I have not seen it. Hope this helps. GOD BLESS YOU! sus04mc@yahoo.com

Neutering a cat tends to make them more docile. I've never heard of a cat 'freaking out' or acting strange after a neuter. Maybe the cat you heard of this happening to was just strange, period?

Plus, neutering most always prevents them from 'marking' or 'spraying' their territory and can avoid some possible health issues later in life.

I've never heard of a cat freaking out after being neutered. It calms them down, makes them sweeter, and prevents them from peeing all over the house to mark territory. I have an 8 year old neutered tabby and he is the best cat a girl could have. I would strongly reccommend neutering, if nothing else, you don't want him slipping out at night and finding a female to have babies with! It's very unlikely your kitty will react in a bad way to the operation.

I go along with what the vet techs had to say.
The only reason they become fat cats is they are overfed. After neutering they can be (not with every cat) less active. This just means less food is needed, or low calorie food. I know some owners put food in toys and the like so the cat has to work at getting it.
Neutered males can (again not every cat) grow taller, but they are mainly early neutered cats.

Neutering changes your cat by getting rid of the testosterone. It ONLY makes you cat a better pet. If they freak out or act strange it doesn't have to do with the surgery.
I have literally been involved in neutered 1000's of cats and it is what every GOOD owner should do!

Most do calm down and become less likely to roam. not to mention the decrease in spraying in the house and the health benefits. I have heard of some older ones getting a little wierd afterward. I personally still think it would be beneficial to get it done and take the chance. It can decrease the chance of cancer in some cats.

Most get pretty docile and put on weight much faster. Mine turned into a butterball in no time. I've known a few to get a bit more skittish. Neutering him will prevent any territorial spraying or fighting that he will do if left unfixed.

Neutering only changes them for the better. No one should be aloud to own an unneutered male cat. They spray and it stinks so usually they end up in shelters. Please ALWAYS nueter. Plus, males especially are loving, and they'll be much more loving and content once they are fixed.

It takes away there urge to roam far and chase females. It also goes a long way to stopping them fighting. It made mine a big cuddly soft lad who`s always next to me when I'm home
