It's very easy to lose touch with internet friends. If you want to keep in touch, it is best to find other alternatives like getting their phone number or snail mail address. I tend to have many more online friends than "real life" friends. If I want to keep them, I always get their phone number.

It's probably because you are very busy with your personal life. Eventhough you may like people via the internet better, having a person there in real life brings so much more comfort.

Since you don't run into the Internet friends every day, it is easy to get wound-up in your daily life and forget to email them. Sometimes you have had such a long day that the thought of getting on line and emailing is too much work.

You just do other things I guess. I had a friend on here who I talked to every day for a few years then it became a longer and longer time until there was no more conversations.
