Their has never been a camera in the work site that i am currently at. Today there was one it is one of those spy cameras that is hidden. (so far only one has been found) it is facing a the drivers' room towards the bathroom. there is no notice of this camera being used. Is this a legal operation? If any one lives in Wisconsin, What is the criteria for this?

I worked in a place that installed these things and on my last day, I waited until no one was in the office and put a thin coat of Vaseline on each lens. For days they couldn't figure out what was wrong because they thought it was a systemic problem and spent lots trying to fix it.

I believe it impinges upon a worker's civil rights. If you have a union, file a complaint. In most states, having a camera in the work place is legal, as long as it's not in the bathroom. However, the workers are suppose to be notified that there are cameras and they have a right to know their locations. If you were not told about the camera and discovered it on your own, this would be a violation. If you do not have a union, contact the NLRB (National Labor Relations Board) regarding your worker's rights in Wisconsin.

Generally speaking, such cameras are allowed. I used to work in a secure area for an auto manufacturer, and I was sure that there were cameras everywhere.

I'm pretty sure that exceptions are made for toilets, etc.

In fact, I once worked for a church that had a couple of cams. They weren't hidden, but they certainly worked.
