If your TV has a PC input, then you have a high definition TV with a VGA connector. In that case, you would need a male to male VGA cable in the length of your choice. If you are using a laptop, then you can screw the VGA cable to the VGA connector on the back of your laptop. You will then hold down the 'Fn' key, then press 'F5' to send the signal to an external monitor.

If your tv has a pc input you just need a monitor lead and connect it as you would do a regular monitor. If you are going to use your pc monitor as well you need to activate the dual monitor feature in XP (right click on a blank area of the screen - choose properties - settings.
You tv then becomes a secondary monitor allowing you to use 2 monitors so you can move windows between the 2 screens

If I had to guess, I'd say you have an S-video input. My HDTV is connected to the DVR/PC using a S-video cable.

Consult the manual that came with your tv but most flat panel tv's now come with a dvi input or svga which will enable you to connect directly from your graphics card on your pc to your tv set. if your tv has dvi input and your pc graphics card is vga out you canuse a dvi convertor which connects to your vga card and then via lead to the dvi input on your tv. all sounds very complicated but its very easy. I use dvi input on my plasma and vga out on my pc set it all up for under a tenner. good luck.
